'4 Portraits'The work of a portraitist often focuses on the human face. Studying the history of close-ups one inevitably comes to mug shots, passport photos and photo booth strips. My fascination with all three led me to experiment with lighting techniques that evoke the same kind of feeling and energy. This small series was created with a ring flash, a very in your face kind of light that even surprises and challenges these veteran subjects that are very familiar with the typical process of a portrait session.
Born 1970, Vienna Austria. Rainer lives in Los Angeles, his work brings him everywhere.
