Participation at the Exhibition ::MOODS:: (2013)
"POSSIBLE STANDING" Within the photographic work of Anita Schmid you find bodies staged as Objects in a certain space. The shown photographs were taken at the „Haus Lange“ in Krefeld/Germany. A building constructed by the Bauhaus Architect Mies van der Rohe. Rohe's work has been of artistic interest to Anita Schmid over the last years. The body approaches the sourrounding space. As an object it interacts and resonates with the space, adds to the different structures, complements, and becomes part of the space. The game with possible standings, positions, perspectives, and angles in an emotional or physical point of view stresses the geometry of body and space. Architecture and figure are allowed to merge - they cause each other. While the architecture is fixed the body finds itself in unusual positions. Configurations are generated at a certain moment in a certain space. Still, the body never is just an object. The unreal physical positions finds an emotional equivalent – internal conditions manifest in the external. The psychological discussion with the space is transported by the position of the body. The body's position emphasizes the linear structure of the Space.
